Spain and Canada join forces all in the name of love!

WHAT IS LOVE?

For centuries in Teruel, Spain, a legend has been passed down about a noble young woman who fell in love with her childhood neighbor and friend.

Their infeasible love was sealed by death, and, in 1555, their bodies were discovered together in a sarcophagus, proving the truth to their story.

This beautiful, immortal legend has inspired such artists throughout the world including Giovanni Boccaccio who borrowed the story for one of his tales in The Decamerón. Today, scholars believe it was the original inspiration for Shakespeare ́s Romeo and Juliet. And to this day, the mummies of these two young lovers can be found in a mausoleum in the capital city of Teruel, where they are being preserved.

Over 20 years ago, Raquel Esteban Martín created a medieval festival to celebrate Los Amantes de Teruel. Every February, the city becomes a medieval village and has more than 200 actors, 4,500 extras, and 17,000 townspeople collabor- ating by wearing medieval costumes, and receiving more than 80,000 visitors.

This compelling story is for all ages has already become a classic in Spain, and still… there is no movie… until now.
